We signed into the waitlist at 5:45pm and were seated at 7pm. The wait was really long so I would recommend putting yourself on the waitlist and doing something else while you're waiting. After we were seated, we ordered and waited a bit more before our food came out. We ordered 4 rolls total plus an app. Between my husband and I, we probably could have gotten away with two rolls and the app or 3 rolls. Everything we had was delicious and very filling but they did forget to bring out our last roll. My husband reminded them but it was already really late, so we asked just to take it to-go. Our total bill was $130 including tip. - crab stuffed jalapeños. These were so good. I'm not sure if it's because we were both super hungry but I liked these. They didn't have a strong dairy flavor and weren't heavy even though you might think they would be - spicy sesame seared tuna roll: I liked this roll a lot. The fish was fresh and the spice wasn't too much. - klondike express roll: this was good too but each piece of the roll was so large, it was a two-bite situation. - Italian dragon roll: this was our least favorite. The unagi had a lot of skin and fat that wasn't really good to eat. The flavors were just ok. - shrimp mango roll: unique and really good. My husband's favorite. He was surprised how much he liked the tomatoes in this. We definitely plan to come back!

This place hits the spot!! Amazing service and tastefully decorated interior, they have plenty of seating, we want on a weekday to grab lunch so there wasn't any waiting Got the chicken wings - amazingly fresh and super crispy Tempura shrimp role - very fresh and tasty Chicken Katsu - chicken and rice were pretty good but I was disappointed with the sauce, it has lacked the punch but overall still good

Long overdue review. I've been to amakara numerous times, even going all the way back to their original location but finally got a chance to write them a review after this most recent visit. Parking: shared parking lot with limited spaces with surrounding businesses. We are usually able to find a spot in the lot but with our last visit, all the spots were occupied so we ended up looking for street parking. Ambiance: trendy and modern sushi spot with table seating, booth seating and bar seating. It's spacious. Perfect spot to take a date, celebrate a special occasion or to just hang out with friends. Service: above average. After seated, water was quickly served. Order to food arrival time was quick. After we were done, the wait staff quickly cleared our plates and provided take out boxes for the leftover food. Food: 5/5. We ordered 5 items: mixed tempura, mixed sashimi, caterpillar roll, Klondike express roll and shrimp mango roll. Everything was fresh and portion sizes were excellent given the price of the items. Our favorites were the mixed sashimi and the Klondike express roll. These are our go-to items whenever we visit amakara and the quality is very consistent each time. Solid sushi spot overall.

I love Amakara, we've been going consistently since they first opened on Regional. My pregnancy craving was their spicy ramen... and they were our Pandemic go to to go!! So of course for my baby's 15th birthday we chose Amakara for her bday dinner. The food was spectacular as always, but last night was one of the first times I felt rushed and found the server a little lackluster. We were there less than an hour total in the early evening, table of 3, and spent more than $200. They should NOT have been trying to bus the table while we were sitting there wrapping up. If someone has chopsticks on the sushi platter, even if they're making art with the spicy mayo, that is your cue to keep moving- not try to clear the dish. This will not stop us from returning, we love Amakara and they're a staple of our community; but I was mildly bummed.

I'm going to say it right now: Amakara always hits the spot. Everything we order is good and the service is excellent. We went on a Friday and we were prepared to wait because there's usually a bunch of people waiting for tables. We opted not to do the bar seating and asked for a table. Surprisingly we didn't have to wait! Awesome. Started off with drinks a pb&j whiskey and a pear cocktail drink (forgot the name). Both were delicious. Our waiter was so attentive and kind. We also got appetizers chicken karage and calamari. Ordered two rolls as well. Red dragon roll (my favorite) and a lemon salmon roll. Man we were stuffed so we couldn't order any dessert. Next time for sure! I would recommend Amakara to anyone. Their menu has a wide variety too so if you're not feeling sushi, they have steak, ramen and rice plates.

This place is nice. There is a full bar on the side where you can sit and get drinks while you wait for your table. There can be a wait as this place can be very busy. Prices are decent when you consider how fresh/good the sashimi/seafood is. My favorite appetizers are the agedashi tofu, sesame seared ahi tuna, and oysters on the half shell. Toro, hamachi toro, uni, sake toro, and amaebi are so good and fresh. Drinks are tasty and not too pricey. Servers are attentive and check on you often. Parking can be tricky because most of the parking is in the parking structure under the apartments, but you have to park in the retail spaces. I keep wanting to come back each time I come here :)

The review count and stars for Amakara are well warranted! My first visit to this Sushi restaurant happened a few Sundays ago. We casually strolled in for lunch and were seated within 15 minutes- we had no previous reservation. The restaurant is quite large with lots of seating areas and a sushi bar area. Upon being seated, our table was clean and already had silverware and cups of ice cold water. The menu is quite extensive and large, but I knew what I wanted- sushi! It was my wife and I, so we ordered 4 rolls and 1 appetizer. Considering how large the portions are, this was plenty of food for two people. We were not disappointed with any of the food. It was all very fresh, tasty and fulfilling. It was impressive how quick the food came out. The service was really good and fast. Our waters were always refilled and ordering additional items was easy. We ended up getting hot tea at the end. Pricing is fair for what good sushi costs, especially in this inflationary period we are living in. I would absolutely be back and will refer family & friends to Amakara.

I recently visited Amakara in Pleasanton to partake in their Happy Hour menu, which runs from 4 to 6 p.m. The selection of sushi, appetizers, and drinks was fantastic. I had a lychee martini, a rainbow spicy roll, the chef's nigiri special, gyoza, and another sushi roll from the main menu. Everything was delicious and fresh. Our server, Hannah, was super awesome--attentive and knowledgeable, she made excellent suggestions. We sat at the sushi bar, and the ambience was vibrant and exciting. The sushi chefs provided fun conversations, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. I highly recommend checking out Amakara, especially during Happy Hour!
